Pets! :O
on my first Ranger I never really had the chance to use pets in all their mighty glory, and I'm gonna remake a ranger. I am Wondering what pet in YOUR opinion is the best, and which pet attribute (Elder, Dire, Hearty Etc...) is the best for said pet. Please do not say the Hippo, yes we all want it, but saddly it doesn't exist anymore .

The only non-good one, but I loved my Hearty Black Bear. I always make my pets hearty

Personally I like dire. It does more damage and is more likely to attract aggro since it has lower health.

Yeah thats why I go dire as well. That and the fact it helps out in Tombs since it gives energy to necros when it dies. I've had a phoenix for a while with no plans to change to something else since I like them.

Yeah, I figure Dire is pretty much the mindset of almost everyone.
But I still see the types of pets not having a trend. So Far I pretty much want a Dire Black Widow, but that's risky since it's random on which attribute you get. If I don't get that I might go Black Moa or Phoenix.

I'd say it'd depend on your attributes. If you got low BM, there's not much point to dire since you do no damage anyway. All they're good for is being a meatshield. And unless you're a thumper, mobs shouldn't aggro on you anyway since you should be out of range.
If you usually run high BM, then I'd say that dire would be the way to go. Though I have to say I usually don't run high BM unless I go thumper. My bow ranger builds tend to have BM less than 6 at most. Most don't even have more than 3. Maybe other people run different builds, so I guess just go with what's good for your build.
As for pets, depends what you think looks cool. The hyena is pretty good when hearty, big and hulking, same as the croc Myself, I run a hearty strider since the thing has been with me forever and is as tall as a skyscraper. Though it totally blocks me out in most cutscenes (damn diva bird, stealing my screentime hehe). Also, if you want big pets, go for the tyrian and elonian ones. Seems most of the canthan pets don't really grow that much in size, not compared to the others anyway.

I didn't really think of this, I really want a Black Widow now seeing as whichever Attribute I get doesn't really matter as most of my builds aren't Beast Mastery-dependent.
Is it possible to Hench/Hero yourself a Black Widow, instead of paying the 20k or so?

Actually, a dire pet can still be handy with no investment in BM. Lower health means that the pet will hold aggro better and in a B/P group, it can feed the MM more frequently.
In most other cases, you probably are running an inefficient build if you have a pet with no attributes in BM anyways, so having a dire or hearty pet won't matter in these cases.
